

Mason Edward Vanstory, 19, was born on February 28, 1992, in Dallas, and passed away September 25, 2011 in Lubbock, Texas. He was a sophomore mass communication major at Texas Tech University and an active member of the Delta Tau Delta fraternity. Mason graduated in 2010 from John Paul II High School in Plano, where he was a member of the Varsity Tennis Team. Mason will be forever remembered for the countless lives he touched at Mitchell Elementary School, Prince of Peace Middle School, John Paul II, and Texas Tech. Mason's favorite activities included lake trips with his friends during the summers, weightlifting, tennis, and, of course, practical jokes. He was a friendly, caring, kind, compassionate, well-liked and well-loved young man with an infectious smile and a hug you could get lost in. He will be eternally missed by all who knew him.
Mason was preceded in death by paternal grandparents Walter G. Vanstory, Jr. and Ava M. Vanstory; maternal grandfather Ronald Edward Hageman, Uncle Jimmy Van Vanstory, Aunt Connie Barfield; Uncle Jeff Hageman and cousin Jim Adams. He is survived by his parents, Charles A. Vanstory and Brenda A. Hageman; brother Tyler G. Vanstory; step-mother Colleen O’Leary-Vanstory, step-brothers Darby, Casey, Ashley and Fletcher; maternal grandparents Alice and George Tencich; Uncle Kenneth E. Vanstory (Kathy); Uncle Ray Rhudy; Aunt Mary Haigh (Bill); Aunt Patricia Prather (John); Aunt Beth Vanstory Lemon (Tom); Aunt Ruby Hageman; cousins Mike Vanstory (Kiyono); Lisa Burke; Christopher Rhudy, Christina Milligan (Michael); Jim Bob Vanstory (Mandy), Jolea Kay James (Rob), Johnny Barfield, Misty Engelmann (Marc), Jodi Martin (Landon); Hiram Adams; Ryan Baker (Jennifer), Preston Bissuett and Heather Hageman.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2011, Twelve Noon,
Sparkman-Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 West Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas. Honorary pallbearers are Monte Hough, Michael Decker, Thomas Yoste, Michael Dunham, Cameron Henry, Noble Madu, Nathan Loftus, Logan Whitfield, Graham Sharp, Nick Danford, Anthony Booher, and Adam Visosky. A reception will follow the service at: Kirby's Woodfire Grill, 3525 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Mason Vanstory Scholarship Fund, Texas Tech Foundation, P.O. Box 41081, Lubbock, Texas 79409-1081.
