

Mason Colleen Varela was born October 12, 1998 in Dallas, TX to Paul Varela and Yvonne Pintor. Mason was a Daughter, Granddaughter, Sister, Aunt, Cousin, Niece, and Friend. She will be greatly missed and always remembered by all. She was raised in De Soto, TX where she resided with her mother, step-dad and brother. She went to St. Mary of Carmel Catholic School where she received her sacraments and graduated in 2014, she went on to graduate from Dallas Academy High School in 2018 and attended Mountain View College with aspirations to pursue a career in the veterinary field.
She enjoyed being active in soccer and volleyball. She was the Captain of her Volleyball team during her senior year. After games she liked to spend time with her family. Mason would spend a lot of time with her Cousin, Mackenzie, she loved to play with her nephews, go to her Dad’s house, and shopping with her mom. At any time she was smiling or making you smile and laugh. Mason brought life to anything she was a part of.
In her free time she would volunteer with a group named “Hero’s for Him”. Along with her cousin, she would dress up as superheroes for Children Hospitals and Police Departments. Ramiro, who leads the group stated that “Mason was one of my heroes.” Mason made a deep impact to hundreds of children and officers in her community.
Mason loved animals. If she could, she would take in every animal that was she saw or thought was abandoned. With this much love she owned a cat named Heaven that has been with her since her childhood and a dog named Lola, both of them were glued to her hip. If she wasn’t with Family she was taking care of the pets that she loved.
She is preceded in death by her Great-Grandmother Maria de la Luz Rodriguez and Grandfather Fernando Varela Sr.
Survived by: Parents: Paul A. Varela Sr., Yvonne Pintor and Step-Father David Cantu Jr.; Brothers: Aiden, David III and David IV Cantu. Sister, Nephew, Brother-in-Law: Brittany, Lucas and Louis Gonzaba; Brother, Nephew, Sister-in-Law Paul Jr, Logan, and Melissa Varela. Grandparents, many aunts and uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
