Mikel was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. He gave his life to Christ at an early age, uniting with the New Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church. There his religious teachings and spiritual foundation were laid. He attended bible study and Sunday School and eventually, he taught the young men's Sunday School class,
He demonstrated determination and drive, graduating early from Lincoln High School in 1981—an accomplishment that reflected both his intelligence and quiet discipline.
Mikel was a gentle soul whose love was never in question. You didn’t have to wonder how he felt about you—he made it known through his presence, his words, and the way he showed up for those he cared about. He carried himself with a calm strength and sincerity that drew people in, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
He had a passion for the people he loved and the time he shared with them, finding joy in moments of laughter, conversation, and connection.
Above all, Mikel valued family and relationships. It is exemplary in how he spent his last days, being a full-time caregiver for his mother. Patiently making sure her every need was met - from combing her hair to taking care of their household. Their bond was undeniably stronger than ever before. He will be missed by all but especially by her.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Ervin Taylor; his brother, Damon Turone Taylor; his brother, Dwight Lewis; his grandmother, Arverian Carrol Vaughn; his grandparents, James Taylor, Lillie Mae Taylor, Jesse L.
