Nancy Grace Good, a devoted servant of God and gifted musician, passed peacefully, leaving behind a rich legacy of faith, family, and music. Born August 22, 1936, in Hershey, Pennsylvania, to Dorman J. and Mary G. Grace, Nancy's life was one marked by love, purpose, and an unwavering commitment to enriching the spiritual lives of others through music.
She was educated in the public schools of Palmyra, PA, and later attended Juniata College in Huntingdon. Nancy earned her Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Lebanon Valley College in Annville, PA, setting the foundation for a lifetime of musical ministry and teaching. Early in her career, she taught in East Orange and Lodi, New Jersey, before marrying the love of her life, Orland “Dan” Good. Together, they built a life centered on faith and family, raising three children: Audrey Jean, Orland "Dan" III, and David "John" Good.
Nancy's devotion to church music spanned her entire life. She served faithfully as an organist, choir director, and choir chimes director in churches across Pennsylvania and Texas—including in Beaumont, Arlington, Dallas, and Lancaster. Her music lifted countless hearts and brought comfort, joy, and inspiration to generations of worshippers. Her deep commitment to the church extended beyond her music; it was rooted in a profound spiritual calling that she nurtured through further education.
Following her husband’s retirement from the USDA, the couple moved to Dallas so Nancy could pursue a long-held dream: to deepen her theological and musical knowledge. She earned a Master of Theological Studies from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University and a Master of Music in Organ Performance and Service Playing from Southern Methodist University Meadows School of the Arts—an extraordinary accomplishment and testament to her dedication and passion.
Nancy was predeceased by her beloved daughter Audrey and her sister Carol Jean. She is survived by her husband of many years, Dan Good Jr.; her sons, Dan Good III and John Good, John’s wife Kathlen; and her cherished granddaughters, Jessica and Jennifer Good and Jennifer’s wife Libby. Also surviving are her brother, D. John Grace; her sister, Suzanne Kleindinst and her husband Richard; half-sisters Joan Wilson and Jeanne Cotton; and many extended family members and dear friends who will continue to celebrate her memory.
In every stage of her life, Nancy was a beacon of love, talent, and faith. Her music and ministry will continue to echo in the lives she touched.
A celebration of life will be held on July 9th, 3:00 PM at the Juliette Fowler Community Chapel at 1260 Abrams Rd. Dallas TX 75214.
Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church on Junius Street in Dallas or to First United Methodist Church of Lancaster, TX, at 201 S. Dallas Ave., Lancaster, TX 75146.
