Nancy Rardin Sexton was born on May 19, 1934 in Oklahoma City to her late parents James C. “Clinton” Rardin and Jimmie V. Rardin. On February 1, 2024, after a long, beautiful life, Nancy passed peacefully to join her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
While Nancy was born and started her life in OKC, her family moved across the country during her younger years to Seattle, WA and Washington, DC, before settling back in OKC. During these moves, Nancy became used to being the “New Kid” in her various places; as such, making friends was easy for her. Her gentle, beautiful personality and contagious smile gave rise to nicknames like “Darling Nancy” and “Cupcake”.
Nancy graduated from Classen High School and went on to attend the University of Oklahoma. While at OU, Nancy participated in many activities and cherished her friendships, especially with her Chi Omega sorority sisters.
After graduation, Nancy moved to Boston where she worked for the Dean of Admissions at Harvard University. Several months into her time in Boston, while walking over the John W. Weeks Pedestrian Bridge on the Harvard campus, Nancy met the love of her life, John Francis Sexton. This “Love at First Sight” meeting eventually led to an engagement, a wedding, and a move to Dallas, Texas, where they settled and started a family.
Nancy loved to participate in philanthropic activities and enjoyed her involvement in Crystal Charity Ball, Cerebral Palsy Organization, The Dallas Woman’s Club, and the Dallas Country Club. She was a parishioner at Christ the King Catholic Church.
Nancy and John were blessed with two children, John Flaherty Sexton (Debra) and Erin Sexton Webb (John). There was nothing more important to Nancy than raising her children and spending time with her precious family - She treasured her three grandchildren, Whitney Webb, Jack Webb and John Sexton II. Nancy was also blessed to meet and spend special time with Al Moore over the past several years.
Nancy received excellent care from The Tradition-Lovers Lane and Allstar Hospice. The family certainly appreciates the passionate treatment that their nursing and caretaking teams provided. We extend a special thank you to Deborah Harden for all the love and gentle care that she gave Nancy over these past few years.
The family will have a private graveside service - In lieu of flowers, feel free to donate in Nancy’s honor to The Mayo Clinic https://philanthropy.mayoclinic.org/donatemc (Please designate the gift to the Gastroenterology Research Project conducted by Laura Raffals, MD).
