

Our Mother, Nelwyn Teresa Burns (Fulton), passed away peacefully into eternal life surrounded by her family on January 18,2016 in Plano Tx. Born December 24, 1932 in Denton, TX. She was a nurse, loving mom, grandmother and United States Air Force wife. Formerly of Texarkana AR she had lived in Dallas,TX since 2012. She grew up on several ranches in West Texas where her father was a foreman of the ranches. She was a graduate of Scott and White School of Nursing. Where upon graduation she began her career at St. Michael's Hospital in Texarkana, AR where she met and married her husband Raymond, who she lovingly and proudly supported in his 26 years of service in the United States Air Force. She was an avid Notre Dame, New Orleans Saints, Dallas Mavericks and San Antonio Spurs fan. She was devoted to the Vietnam Veterans Chapter 278 in Texarkana,AR where along side her husband she spent countless volunteer hours to help all Veterans in their time of need, especially bringing home POW-MIA's back to the USA. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years Master Sergeant (Retired) Raymond L. Burns. Her parents mother Emmabel(Rogers) Fulton Crouch and father Charles Elwyn Fulton and stepfather Hugh Crouch. She leaves behind five children and their spouses. Jacqueline and Calvin Smith of Texarkana, AR, Marilyn Burns and Lance Fenney of Longmont,CO, Tommy and Tammy Burns of Longview, TX. Valerie and Billy Martin of Allen, TX and Justin and Christina Burns of Dallas, TX. Also 15 grandchildren and 2 very special great grandchildren Joshua Smith and Olivia Martin. She was a devoted Catholic and lived her last 3 years at St. Joseph's Residence Inc. in Dallas, TX where she was cared for lovingly by the Bethlemite sisters, while there she loved trivia, current events,bingo, audio books, gardening and children's choirs who came to sing for the residents. Visitation will be held Sunday January 24, 2016 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm with Rosary at 3:00 pm. Funeral service Monday January 25, 2016 at 11:30 am at Gonzalez Funeral Home and Crematory Inc. 3050 Stemmons Freeway Dallas,TX 75247; Committal service 1:30 pm at DFW National Cemetery 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway 75211. She was loved greatly by many people and will be greatly missed.
