June 17, 2024, at the age of 79. Despite his crusty exterior and a stubbornness that could rival a
mule's, Nick was known far and wide for his hidden acts of kindness and his legendary ability to
complain about anything.
Born in 1944 to Nicholas and Agustina in Dallas, Texas. Nick had many stories of growing up in
the Little Mexico neighborhood of Dallas, his high school years at Crozier Tech and his years in
the Army. He married his devoted wife, Olegaria, and they would joke and make each other
laugh with their own secret jokes no one else could understand. Together, they raised their
daughter, Celeste, who inherited his love for music and movies.
Nick spent 30+ years working at Southwestern Bell/AT&T, rarely missing a day of work of
which he was quite proud. After retirement, Nick was an avid movie watcher. Black and white classics were his favorite, but he would watch anything at all hours of the day and night. He also loved exercising and
tinkering with small machinery.
Nick leaves behind a legacy of good-natured gruffness, generosity, and more than likely a
multitude of secret snack stashes. He will be dearly missed by Olegaria, Celeste, his son-in-law
Chris, as well as his grandson Nicholas, whom he adored.
Preceded in death by his parents, Nicholas and Agustina, and his brothers, Fidel and Manuel.
He is survived by his five siblings: Juanita Paredez Marquez, Joe Paredes, Mary Paredes, Irene
Paredez and Armando Perez Paredes.
Nick taught his daughter, his grandson, and all of his kin, how to be a fighter. Above all else, he
was a man who fought for the smallest and the biggest things in his world. He was a strong man,
but always full of love, and the love felt for him is something that will remain forever.
