Olga Gaytan

Olga Gonzalez Gaytan was born on July 30, 1932 in Nuevo Laredo, Mexico, the daughter of the late Julian Gonzalez and the late Guadalupe Zamora; she was one of ten siblings. Olga suffered many ailments and entered into rest on October 1, 2016 in Dallas, TX at the age of 84. She lived in Nuevo Laredo, until she courted and married David Gaytan in 1950 at the age of 18. David & Olga Gaytan bravely decided to move their small family of three to Laredo, TX to provide their growing family a promising future of being American citizens. In 1971 David & Olga once again uprooted their family for the betterment of all their children’s future and moved to Dallas, TX. From this marriage David & Olga reared eight children, from which they were gifted nine grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Olga Gaytan was a devoted house wife & mother; she unconditionally loved and helped her children with anything they needed. In the 80’s Olga took care of all her grandchildren at once over summer breaks while the children were out of school; her grandchildren meant the world to her.

Olga lost the love of her life, David Gaytan, in August 2007 and a daughter, Guadalupe Olvera (children: Graciela, Vanessa & Amanda) in September 2007 to cancer. She wholeheartedly cherished her increasingly growing family. Olga Gaytan will be remembered as a caring, loving and patient wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. What will be missed most is her genuine, selfless, and thoughtful personality who touched each one of us in a special way. Olga is survived by her children, Olga Villarreal (grandchildren: Luis & JJ), Rosa Guerra (grandchildren: Bianca, Herman & Mark), Leti O’Quin, Leandro Gaytan (grandchildren: Leandro Jr & Kristina), David Gaytan Jr., Daniel Gaytan and Jose Gaytan.

Please join us in remembering and celebrating the life of Olga Gonzalez Gaytan at Calvary Hill Funeral Home, 3235 Lombardy Ln, Dallas, TX 75220, on Thursday, October 6, 2016 from 5-9pm, with the Rosary recited at 7pm. Mass will begin at 10:00 am on Friday, October 7, 2016, also, at Calvary Hill Funeral Home. Committal will be held at Calvary Hill Cemetery.
