Wheeler and Ethel Yates Wheeler. Pam lost her father as a young girl and her mother subsequently married H. Edwin Player. Pam’s family lived in a number of cities during World War II but settled in Jackson, Mississippi, in 1945 where she met her future husband, James M. Spell, Jr. Pam graduated from Central High School in Jackson and later attended Sullins College in Bristol, Virginia, and the University of Florida at Gainesville. Pam and Jim were married in 1952 and settled in Dallas following Jim’s military service. In addition to her parents, Pam was preceded in death by her brothers Matt H. Wheeler, Jr. and Daniel V. Wheeler. Pam is survived by her husband Jim, her daughter Melinda Nelson and husband Britt of Arlington, Texas; her daughter Melissa Terrell and husband Greg of Houston; grandchildren Rachel, Erin, Zachary, Matthew, Adam, and Joey Nelson; and Laura Terrell Lalani and her husband Kary, Leah, and Scott Terrell. She is also survived by great-granddaughter Emma Grace Lalani and cousin Betty Yates Burkett of Springfield, VA. Pam was a person of deep faith in God and was devoted to her family. She was blessed with a sweet nature and was a kind and gentle soul. She made friends easily, always looked for the good in others, and never had an unkind word for anyone. She cherished her grandchildren and the times spent with them growing up, often spending hours playing make-believe and board games such as Yahtzee, Rummycube, Chutes and Ladders, and the like. Family visitation will be at Sparkman Hillcrest, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy., from 7:00 to 9:00 pm on Wednesday, September 21st.
