Patsy Ruth Davis of Midlothian Tx passed away on December 8, 2022 after a 4 year battle with Vascular Dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. She was 88 years old. Patsy was born in Paris Tx on 10/24/34 to Jewell and Lois Gage.
After graduating from Delmar High School on May 30, 1952, she moved to Dallas, TX. Her first job was working for Southwestern Bell as a phone switchboard operator. While employed there she was set up on a blind date with Bobby Joe Davis. Bobby and Patsy later married on June 18, 1954. The family eventually grew to include twins Sam and Pam, and younger brother Brad.
Patsy was an early riser and was very motivated. She worked full time while raising a family. Her work career mainly focused on the “food service” industry. After leaving the phone company, she started a job with Swift & Co. as a receptionist and later moved into becoming a sales rep , which provided her with a company car. At that time the sales positions were dominated by men. She worked there for 28 years before retiring. After retiring from Swift & Co., Patsy wanted to keep busy. She cleaned houses for several years, worked for Regal Vending, and later for Duncanville and Cedar Hill School districts working in the cafeteria. She finally completely retired at age 79.
Patsy was a “superwoman”. First of all she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. While working full time and raising a family she enjoyed many hobbies. She sewed clothes for her children and her daughter’s Barbie doll. She took painting and ceramics lessons. She loved to shop for jewelry and clothes at outlet stores, always looking for a bargain. She enjoyed going to Canton’s first Monday and enjoyed collecting pottery. She was very active in her eighties including attending a water aerobics class. She loved her furry children as she had several dear dog companions in her life. In her late seventies she left the senior living apartments and bought her own home.
Patsy was a long time member of Trinity Temple Baptist Church in Dallas TX. Most currently she was a member of The Oaks Baptist Church in Grand Prairie TX. She was an outstanding Christian woman.
Patsy will be sorely missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her daughter Pam Davis-Young and husband Barry, her son Brad and his two children Madison and Mason, and her beloved dachshund Oscar. Patsy is preceded in death by her husband Bobby Joe Davis, parents Jewel and Lois Gage, and beloved granddaughter Mikala Davis.
