

The longtime journalist worked at the CNNCenter in Atlanta from 1995-2012. He anchored more than 29,000 newscasts on the now defunct CNNRadio Network. His newscasts were heard on more than 1,000 radio stations in numerous countries including New Zealand, Taiwan, South Africa and Voice of America on the Chinese mainland.
For CNN domestic television in the 1990s, Chambers "This is CNN" and "This is breaking news from CNN" could be heard. Paul also narrated portions of CNN's impeachment coverage of President Bill Clinton. Paul was "voice approved" for all CNN Networks, including student news, CNN International and the airport network. He also wrote film and video reviews for CNN.com.
Born in Dallas, Texas, in 1956, to Oscar and Lena Jo Chambers, Paul discovered his vocation while an undergraduate at Valparaiso University. He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. He was also named outstanding senior in the Speech and Drama departments.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of eight years, Ruth Veraguas Chambers, his brother, David Chambers of Austin, and sister, Camille Chambers Helm of Manitoba, Canada.
Paul was an active member of Central Lutheran Church in Dallas. He served as stewardship chairman and directed two original Christmas plays at the church, founded in 1922.
Chambers also served as morning drive anchors at both KRLD Newsradio, Dallas and the Texas State Radio networks. He won the Associated Press Best Newscast in Texas and the UPI National award for best spot news reporting in the United States, also while with KRLD.
Also known for his film reviews and celebrity interviews, Chambers interviewed
over 700 actors, directors and producers on behalf of KRLD and CNN.
Chambers died of pancreatic cancer on April 24. He was 68.
