

.Paula Kay Tucker passed away June 8th, 2011, at home,surrounded by her dear children and family. She was born on May 19th, 1967 in Liberal, Kansas to Paul and Marlene Tucker, the oldest of three children. She married Eric Bird September 16th, 1996 and together they had two children, Katharine and Christopher.Paula graduated from Berkner High School in Richardson in 1985, and went on to college at Trinity University in San Antonio, where she graduated in 1989 with a degree in Economics. After college, she worked at the Federal Reserve in Dallas as a research analyst, until retuning to college to pursue a law degree. In 1994, Paula graduated from the University of Texas School of Law in Austin with the degree of Doctor of Jurisprudence. While at law school, she was an editor of the Texas Journal of Women and the Law. Paula clerkedfor the Honorable Harold C. Abramson, Judge,Northern District of Texas Federal Bankruptcy court. She then practiced law for 13 years with the law firmGardere and Wynne in the bankruptcy section. Paula retired from active legal practice in 2009, but thenShe subsequently worked part time for the law firm Taber, Estes, Thorne and Carr, until her most recent illness. Paula was involved in several ministries at her Church home, The Episcopal Church of the Ascension in Dallas, serving as Sunday School Superintendent among other roles. She was also involved in Katharine’s and Christopher’s school activities, serving as a Cub Scout Den Mother and Girl Scout troop leader, as well as an PTA volunteerat Stonewall Jackson Elementary. Paula is survived by her husband Eric Bird,their two children Katharine and Christopher, parents, Paul and Marlene Tucker, brothers Jeffrey Tucker, Timothy Tucker and his wife Carmen, nephew Michael and niece Amanda. Services for Paula will be held at 10:00 am, Monday, June 13th, 2011at The Episcopal Church of the Ascension, located on 8787 Greenville Avenue. The burial will take place at historic Greenwood Cemetery, 3020 Oak Grove Avenue following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that contributions be made to The Episcopal Church of the Ascension or Trinity University
