Pauline Frances Scamardo

Pauline Frances Scamardo, 94, of Dallas, Texas passed away peacefully at home on September 20th, 2021 in Carmel, Indiana surrounded by family. She was born in Dallas, Texas on June 12th, 1927 to Josephine and Matthew L. Morale. Pauline graduated from Crozier Tech High School in Dallas. Following graduation, she worked for the Texas & Pacific Railroad for 15 years. On November 27, 1947, she married Carl Anthony Scamardo of Hearne, Texas. Carl was a seaman first class who served on the USS Eldorado during WWII. They were married for 42 years until his death in 1989.

Pauline was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church in Dallas, Texas. For years she took part in adoration services. She also helped out in the school cafeteria when her children were young and was one of the first families to attend church there. Her name is placed on the cornerstone of the church when it was first built. She also served as a member of the Catholic Daughters (Court Mary Immaculate) for more than 40 years. In retirement she was a homemaker and then worked as a merchandiser for American Greetings for 27 years. She was also an active part of the Italian community in Dallas. Pauline was a charter member of the “HG Club,” a club of Italian friends that supported each other and shared lifelong friendships.

Pauline was a devoted wife, mother and Nana. She gave of herself freely and was there for anyone in need. She led a fulfilled life surrounded by her family and friends & was loved by everyone she met. She always said she wouldn’t have her life any other way. She loved to cook and her Italian meals were enjoyed by many.

Pauline is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Anthony Scamardo, parents Josephine and Matthew Morale, brothers Joe and Nick Morale, sister Mary Louise Morale and son-in-law Charles Mitchell Jr.

She is survived by her brother, Matt Morale of Houston, TX, her daughters JoAnn Scamardo-Hickman (Jerry) of Rowlett, TX and Mary Scamardo-Mitchell, of Carmel, IN. She is also survived by her four grandchildren: Christie Slocum (Werner) of Westminster, CO, Becky Benners of Frisco, TX and fiancé Dave Patel, Lori Benners-Derba (Justin) of Cape Coral, FL and Christopher Mitchell, of Carmel, IN
