Philip Kyle Cromeens was born December 17, 1952 in Mesquite, Texas to Jeff and Elaine Cromeens. He passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020 in Dallas, Texas after a six year courageous battle with ALS. He is survived by his wife, Pamela, his two daughters and son-in-laws, Ashley and Matt and Alexa and Levi, his two grandchildren, Lyla and Simon, his three brothers and sister-in-laws, Gary and Rae, Wayne and Debbie and Gil and countless friends and loved ones.
Phil was passionate about being a wonderful father to his two daughters, a loving husband and a loyal friend. Phil’s career ranged from musician, to custom carpenter, to set decorator, roofer and handyman. His hobbies, talents and passions included sailing, woodworking, golfing, playing classical guitar (and a number of other instruments), making music with his friends and daughters and living life to the fullest. In his spare time, he enjoyed reading a good science fiction novel, practicing origami, watching the latest Space X events, discussing quantum physics, and learning about many other areas of odd knowledge and interests.
Phil was the kind of guy that could make an elevator full of friends before the 2nd floor. He proved that the things that really mattered were good friends and the way you treated people. To Phil, the pursuit of stuff was truly immaterial when compared to the real treasures of family and friendship. He showed us how to love others, how to be accepting, how to look at places, people, and things and see the best in them.
Even throughout his fight with ALS, he managed to touch many people’s lives, zipping around in his wheelchair making friends. He proved that a life lived richly is more valuable than a life lived rich. Phil always said that he was the best person that ALS could have happened to because he had such a huge support system including an amazing wife, loyal friends and loving family. Without a doubt he made the world a better place and he will be greatly missed.
