Phil was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 20, 1929. He graduated from Lafyette High School and proudly served his country in the Korean War.
Philip met the beautiful Adrienne Shea, when he was 16 and she was 13. Adrienne was the best friend of Phil’s beloved sister of blessed memory, Maxine Henkin.
Philip leaves behind the love of his life for 70 years, married 62 years, Adrienne Strull of Dallas, his biggest blessings… Brian (Keo Lande), Eric (Margo Wolfson) Strull of Dallas and daughter, Valerie Newberg (Jeff) of Austin, his pride and joy grandchildren, Sean, Brandon, Cody, Alec and Courtney Strull of Dallas, Niki, Ryan and Jacob Newberg of Austin, his sisters, Joyce (Donald) Chernoff, Phyllis (Harold) Redler of Florida and brother Marty (Carol) Strull of Colorado and many loving cousins, nieces and nephews. Phil’s entire world was his family.
He never missed a baseball or soccer game or even practice of his children and grandchildren. He was a sweet and simple man that did everything for his family. A role model of what is important in life and the definition of a father and grandfather. Phil’s goodness, was his greatness… He was our hero and will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
Funeral services will be on Tuesday, August 11, 2015 at 12pm in the Northwest Highway Chapel at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas, TX. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to either the JCC of Dallas Senior Program, Wounded Warrior Project or a charity of your choice.
