Preston Lee Payne

He attended John F. Kennedy High School in Dallas, Texas, and continued his education at the University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. While at UNT, he pledged membership in the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.

Preston’s professional career spanned several companies, including GTE, Texas Instruments, and Frito-Lay.

Preston enjoyed life and was intentional about living it fully, with no regrets. He had an unquenchable thirst for knowledge and was an avid reader. His favorite pastimes included sports—especially basketball and football—and enjoying good food. Above all, he cherished time spent with family and friends.

Preston was preceded in death by his parents, Preston L.C. Payne and Johnnie Holt Moton.

He is survived by his children: LaJuana McElwee (Grant), Telytha Blackburn (Tyrese), Nikita Russell (Ryan), and Preston C. Payne (Jessica); his grandchildren: Grant McElwee IV; Taliyah, Xavier, and Yahsha Blackburn; and Penelope, Kyngston, Mason, and Maxymus Payne; his sister, Yolonda G. Shade (Kenneth); and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, and friends.
