Lt. Col. Ralph Stephen Bennett (US Army retired) passed away on February 15, 2016 at the age of 75. He was blessed with 16 years of life thanks to a generous organ donor who gave him a heart. Ralph was born in New York, New York on May 3, 1940. He was a graduate of Hillcrest High School and University of Texas at Arlington. He was a proud member of the ROTC and the U.S. Army retiring as a Lt. Col. He was proceeded in death by his mother and father, Sydne and Robert Bennett. Ralph is survived by his brother, Fred T. Bennett and his 6 children, Lisa and Dallas Smith, Amy and Lee Weiner and Scott and Leigh Bennett. Ralph was the proud grandfather of 5 grandchildren, Maxwell and Zoe Weiner, Dallas Smith and Sydney and Lindsey Bennett. Ralph was passionate about movies and an avid reader. He also enjoyed time with friends, traveling and learning about history. The family would like to thank the many doctors and medical professionals. We specifically like to recognize Dr. Shelly Hall and the Baylor Heart Transplant team along with Dr. Rainer Khetan and Dr. Ruben Elovitz for their compassionate care over the years. Funeral services will be held graveside February 16th at Sparkman Hillcrest at 4PM. The family is requesting donations to the Southwest Transplant Alliance.
