Ralph Taggart Franks Jr.

Ralph Taggart Franks, Jr, of Dallas, Texas passed away January 13, 2023. Ralph was born September 11, 1948, in Stonega, Virginia to Ralph Taggart Franks, Sr and Fannie Lee Turbyfill Franks. Ralph is survived by his wife, Karen; sister, Loretta McDonald; nieces and nephews and their spouses, Mike Franks and Karen, Mark Franks and Rhonda, Donny Franks and Kim, Tammy Simpson and Norman, Tim Gregory and Roxane, Jennifer Walker and Todd, and Lisa Wright, in addition to many great nieces and great nephews and loving cousins. He was preceded in death by wife, Elaine; brother, David Franks and sisters, Dena Gregory and Sonora Watson, as well as his parents. Ralph retired from the City of Dallas Water Department after 25 years of service. Ralph was affectionately known as “Junior” to his family and close friends. Junior was our family’s gentle giant - one of the sweetest and most gentle men you would ever meet. Junior never had children, but loved his nieces and nephews as his own. Junior was always the fun uncle, taking the time to play with and have genuine relationships with each of his nieces and nephews. Ralph will be truly missed by all that had the privilege to know him. Visitation will be held Thursday, January 19, 2023, at 10:00 a.m., with graveside services to follow immediately at 10:30 a.m. Services will be at Grove Hill Cemetery in Dallas. Junior’s final resting place will be only yards away from the final resting place of his mother, father, sister and brother.
