

Refugio Orozco, 66, of Grand Prairie, Texas passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022 in Grand Prairie, Texas. He was born May 10, 1956 in Dallas, Texas to the late Geronimo and Josefina Orozco. Refugio was raised in West Dallas, graduated from Nimitz High School and received his Associate's Degree from Mountain View College.
He married Maria Escalante on May 22, 1976 and the couple had three children. He was employed by Sears and later worked as a substitute teacher with the Grand Prairie Independent School District for more than twelve years. In his spare time, Refugio enjoyed working on cars and projects around the house. He was a fan of Western movies along with collecting John Wayne and Wonder Woman memorabilia. His family and friends will always remember him as a family man with a strong faith. A man with a great sense of humor who loved music and dancing. He loved helping people, and he had a passion for working with and mentoring the youth in the community. He would do anything for anyone who turned to him for help. His students looked up to him and lovingly referred to him as "Mr. O". One of his greatest accomplishments was having his children grow to become independent and successful adults.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Geronimo and Josephina Orozco; brother, Honorio Orozco. Refugio is survived by his loving wife, Maria Escalante Orozco; children, Maria Juana Orozco, Angela Josephine Orozco, and Refugio Geronimo Orozco; grandchildren, Angel Esteban Orozco, Penelope Orozco, Oliver Orozco, Addison Jeremiah Hewett, and Isaac Tomas Orozco
