

Ria June Fulcher was born in Galveston, Texas on December 1, 1926, and passed away on September 8, 2016 after a life well lived. Ria graduated from Galveston Ball High in 1943. She met her husband, Henry (Herky) Coleman Fulcher, at the University of Texas where Ria was a member of Chi Omega. The two were married in Austin at All Saints Episcopal Church on September 17, 1947. Ria graduated with a BA degree from the University in 1951 and shortly thereafter moved with Henry to Dallas where she continued to live until her death. During the more than 46 years she and Henry were married, she traveled the world, raised four children, and made so many wonderful, lifelong friends. She was an active member of the Junior League of Dallas and contributed many volunteer hours. After Henry’s death in 1994, Ria operated a Greeting and Holiday card business and became a crack bridge player. She was a compassionate and loyal friend, always generous and helping those in need.
Her daughter Elizabeth Fulcher and her sister Jessie May Flautt predeceased Ria. She is survived by her son Jamie Fulcher and daughter-in-law Betsy Fulcher; her son Jess Fulcher; her son Clay Fulcher and daughter-in-law Margo Clark; by her god-son Chuck Kenworthy; by her grand-children Peter, Jesse, Jennifer, Lauren, Jeff, Nicky, Will, and Jack; and by her great-grandchildren Grayson, Sutton and Vianne.
Visitation will be held at Sparkman-Hillcrest, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy, Tuesday, September 13 from 6pm to 8 pm. Funeral services will be held at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, 8011 Douglas Ave. on Wednesday, September 14 at 1pm., followed by a private burial and a reception at Ria’s house, 10717 Royal Pk.
