Richard Earl Bullock, age 70, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, September 19th 2025. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose life was defined by service, music, laughter, and love.
Born to Earl and Peggy Bullock, Richard grew up with a deep sense of duty. He proudly served his country for 11 years in the United States Navy aboard the USS Georgia and the deep submergence vessel Mystic (DSVR). After his Navy service, he continued with both the Army National Guard and the Air National Guard, where he retired. A gifted musician, he played trumpet in the military bands as well as with the Mountain View Band, where his music lifted spirits and built lifelong friendships. He also gave trumpet lessons, sharing his passion through the mentorship of young musicians who will carry his influence for years to come.
This November, Richard and his beloved wife, Dorothy, would have celebrated 40 years of marriage—a partnership marked by devotion, perseverance, and joy. Together, they raised five children, to whom he dedicated his life and hard work: Daniel Hoelle (wife, Tina); Yvette Palmer (husband, Jeremy) and her children Logan, Aaron, and Kaiah; Kathleen Spangler (husband, Francis) and her children Charlie, Adelaide, Sterling, and Rosalie; Valerie Bullock (wife, Sandra); and Sarah Bullock (husband, Chris) and her children Einar, Ingrid, and Halfdan.
He is also survived by his father, Earl Bullock, and stepmother, Carolyn Bullock; his sister, Cathy Lee; many nieces and nephews and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his mother, Peggy Bullock.
Richard was known for his love of pirates, dogs, and comedy, which brought joy and laughter to those around him. He will be remembered as a man of quiet strength and devotion, a great father who worked tirelessly to care for his family, and a warm spirit who never missed an opportunity to share a joke or a smile.
