Born in Dallas, Texas as the second of nine children, Bruce displayed a zest for life that touched everyone around him from a young age. As a child, he would spend hours playing football in the front yard with his siblings, an early testament to his lifelong commitment to community and fun. As the years passed, Bruce's love for exploration led him on many adventures, from new beginnings in the U.S. Merchant Marine and starting his own painting business to seeking serenity in simply camping in the great outdoors or fishing by a calm lake. He found joy in collecting various treasures and fixing things that intrigued him, always eager to learn and discover. Some of his fondest memories included long conversations reminiscing with his dad while fixing up old trucks or motorcycles and popping by a friend’s house to handle the odd job, tend to a garden, or paint a wall their favorite color.
While he found adventure anywhere he went, the true throughline of Bruce’s life was an unwavering dedication to the care of others. His family was of the utmost importance to him, and he prided himself in being a caretaker for those in need. Bruce often played the lottery in selfless hopes that one day he would hit the jackpot and be able to provide for all around him. The 5:30 pm World News was must-watch daily programming so he could keep abreast of the latest happenings and how he could help. He would frequent garage sales to purchase items for more than the asking price to help the seller, only to immediately donate the item to charity to multiply the impact to others. Bruce especially had an affinity for animals and was known for his kindness in rescuing and caring for them. He once nursed a bird back to full health and set it free just for it to return to his shoulder.
His compassion also always brought friends and strangers alike into his orbit; he had a knack for making others laugh and feel at ease, often sharing stories and jokes that lifted spirits. Bruce delighted in preparing his famous chicken noodle soup and seafood dishes for those closest to him, especially for his beloved mother. His generous spirit was further exemplified by his tradition of gifting giant-sized chocolate bars each Christmas and often surprising friends with spontaneous, thoughtful gifts, brightening their day without fail. Bruce had a unique gift for finding beauty in the smallest of things and moments. Whether it was marveling at a peacock feather found during a walk in the woods or sharing a winning moment in a game of Bingo, Skip Bo, or Uno with his mom and sisters, he brought joy to every occasion. His loved ones will honor his memory by seeking out and honoring that same beauty and blessing in each everyday moment, no matter how small they may seem.
Bruce is preceded in death by his father, John Hugh Malone, Jr.; mother, Carolyn Ann Dunn Malone Thornton; and niece, Jennifer Blair Malone. He is survived by his stepmother, Maureen Malone; brother, John Brian Malone and wife Jennifer; sister, Phyllis Virattanajun; sister, Michelle Lambert and husband Joseph; sister, Pam Cantrell and husband Gary; brother, Michael Malone; brother, Wayne Malone and wife Ellen; brother, Jim Malone and wife Meagan; sister, Lindsey Malone; nieces, Joy Virattanajun, Jillian Malone, Emma Pillers and husband Andrew, Paige Lambert, Jamie Malone; nephews, John Brett Malone, Benjamin Lambert, Jonathan Anderson; as well as numerous beloved friends and extended family members.

The family will welcome friends for a reception following the services at 3517 Sentinel Oak Road, Flower Mound, TX 75022.
Bruce’s legacy will be one of adventure, thoughtfulness, faith, and a profound love for all. We will honor his memory and heart of gold by cherishing each moment, never forgetting the good others have done for us, and always remembering to say “I love you” whenever we get the chance as he did so well. We love you, Bruce.
