very generous, loving soul and loved his family with all his heart.
Bob leaves behind the family he loved so much; his children Robert, Teresa and Austin Backiel, his
sister Jacqueline Kitchens and numerous nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly. His children
truly were his pride and joy. He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Laura Backiel,
Sr. and his brother, David Backiel.
Bob was born on a snowy day on January 14, 1961, in Northampton, Massachusetts. His solid work
ethic began in Lawton at a very young age when Bob started mowing lawns in the neighborhood. He
attended Lawton High School and loved baseball. He played catcher on several local, regional and
state championship teams. After high school, he attended Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma.
He began working as a landman with his father, Bob, Sr., and really found his true passion of oil
and gas. That strong work ethic lead him to building and starting his own company, Enerquest
Corporation, a successful oil and gas firm. He was a member of the American Association of
Petroleum Landmen. Bob was an avid sportsman who loved fishing, hunting and simply doing anything
outdoors with his family and friends.
