Bob was born in Floral Park, New York on February 11, 1941 to Irving and Jean Carlin. Bob grew up in New Rochelle, New York, graduating from New Rochelle High School, then moving on to both New York University and West Virginia University. Bob was proud to have enlisted in the Army as a young man, qualifying as a Sharpshooter, and ever proud to don his Army Veteran cap. Bob was a serial entrepreneur and lifelong learner, working in both New York and then Dallas in real estate, construction, jewelry, furniture, and organic gardening. Never at a loss for words, he loved to entertain friends and neighbors with stories of all of the above.
If organic gardening was Bob’s first love, (and neighbors and friends, who benefited from his generosity, would say it was), then his beloved dogs, Chips, Sandy, and Coco would come in second. Bob never met a pup he didn’t love, and many friendships were born of this shared the love of animals.
Bob was a loyal and faithful friend, and generous with his knowledge, time, and love. Tenacious beyond measure, he was relentless in his pursuit of physical health, and was a decades long member of the Town North YMCA.
If Bob, loved you, you knew it. He is greatly missed by us all, and we are better for having known him… a beautiful soul who sought to love others well.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Irving and Jean Carlin, and is survived by his sister, Myrna and her children, Gayle and Jeff.
Bob was laid to rest in a beautiful ceremony on December 5, 2023 at Shearith Israel Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas, next to his beloved parents.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Bob’s memory to your favorite children’s charity, food, bank, or the SPCA.
