Bob was born on October 13, 1944, in Davenport, Iowa. He attended Catholic elementary and high schools, graduated from Eastern Iowa Community College in Electronics, and Saint Ambrose College in Business. Drafted into the U.S. Army, he served honorably during the Vietnam War from December 1966 to November 1970, including in the Army Security Agency, specializing in signals, communications, and electronic intelligence.
Following his military service and Saint Ambrose College, he moved to Dallas, Texas, as a buyer for Rockwell Collins and Texas Instruments. He continued his education, earning a master’s degree in marketing and economics from North Texas State University in Denton. He co-founded Pro-Comp Sales, an electronic components company, and retired soon after selling the business in 2005.
He is survived by his wife, Maryanne, in-laws John Buranosky, and Joan and Mark Benton, and many beloved nieces and nephews and their families.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward Coelln, mother, Gertrude Brom Coelln, and sisters Betty Jane Buranosky and Marjorie Ann Royer.
Bob modeled the way to live each day to its fullest. His interests were unlimited, his hobbies uncountable. To name just a few: ham radio (KG5JL), target shooting, fishing, hunting, scuba diving, gardening, building and restoring radios and clocks, train enthusiast and a pilot. His expertise was astounding. If something interested him, he'd learn about it, study it, and then just do it. But he was most interested in connecting with anyone and everyone and share one of his stories. And no matter that he'd already told you the same story once or twice before, you were going to hear it again. Bob will be greatly missed.
