Born in Russellville, Alabama, he moved with his parents to Dallas in the early 1920s.
Before enlisting in the Navy, he and his brother helped construct the Bethesda Naval Hospital in Maryland. Until his retirement, he worked in Dallas construction. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Agnes Marie Merk, four children, their spouses and four grandchildren. Children and their spouses are Louis Ray and Sharon Estes Daily, Patricia Daily Hupp and Thomas Hupp, Paul Bunyon Daily and Debra Burns Daily, Daniel Max and Carla Niemann Daily.
Grandchildren are Christopher Michael, TyAnn, Jennifer Marie and Max Niemann Daily.
Service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Grove Hill Funeral Home, 3920 Samuel Blvd, Dallas, 75228. Visitation is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Tuesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dallas Homeless Veterans @ American Legion Post 453, 2755 Bachman Dr., Dallas, TX 75220
