Robert "Klutch, Beepah" Frank Kubelka

Robert Frank Kubelka, known to many as Klutch, and to his grandchildren as the legendary Beepah—slipped peacefully from this world on Thursday, April 16, 2026, in Houston, Texas. He was 79 years young at heart, always the jokester, forever cheering someone on.

Born in Ennis, Texas on September 3, 1946 to Frank and Emily Kubelka, Robert grew up with a strong work ethic, a mighty heart, and a knack for fixing just about anything that dared to break. Proud of his Czech roots, he carried forward the traditions, humor, and stubborn-but-loving spirit passed down through generations of Kubelkas, through family gatherings, shared stories, and the unmistakable Czech warmth he brought into every room.

After graduating from St. John’s Catholic School, he proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War—an experience that strengthened his discipline and deepened his sense of duty.

Following his service, Robert completed a four‑year program with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, earning his Journeyman certification. On June 13, 1970, he married the love of his life, Suzanne (Suzie), in Irving, Texas. Together they built 55 years of partnership, laughter, teamwork, and a family that adored him.

Robert spent three decades lighting up the Dallas Convention Center—literally—after honing his craft through K‑Electric and IBEW. Whether he was wiring a panel or coaching someone through a project, he brought patience, humor, and a twinkle in his eye to every task.

He loved softball, all sports really, and absolutely any activity his grandchildren participated in. If a Kubelka or Johnson kid was playing, swimming, wrestling, kicking, or running, Beepah was in the stands—usually with the loudest ovation and the highest high‑five. He kept up with current events, shared news articles with gusto, and was famous for sending out jokes that made the rounds more than once -- and were just as funny the second time.

Robert gave generously of his time and heart. He was part of the KJT, active in the Knights of Columbus, and could often be found volunteering at his children’s and grandchildren’s schools. He believed in community, showing up, and doing things the right way.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Emily Kubelka, and three of his siblings, Marguerite Patterson, Eugene Kubelka, and Mickey Kubelka.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne; his three children and their spouses—Nicole and John Johnson, Michael and Sandy Kubelka, Dominic and Audra Kubelka, and twelve grandchildren who were the light of his life: Joe, Leo, Jack, Rebecca, Chloe, Henry, Shannon, Teddy, Charlie, Tony, Louie, and George.

He is also survived by his sister Marcella Anderson; nieces and nephews Missy, Maria, Stephanie, Monica, Bill, Suzie, and Julie; and a wide circle of family and friends who will forever miss his humor, his stories, and his steady presence.

Visitation will be held on Monday April 27, 2026 from 4 pm - 8 pm at Calvary Hill Funeral Home. A rosary will begin at 6:00pm.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Tuesday April 28, 2026 at 11 am at Calvary Hill Main Mausoleum North Chapel. Entombment to immediately follow at Calvary Hill Cemetery. There will be a light reception to follow.
