Born September 4, 1954 in Indianapolis, Indiana, died September 28, 2014 in Dallas, TX. Ronald (" Ron ") Dee Rice of Dallas, TX passed away after a prolonged illness. For over 21 years, Ron Rice was a dedicated tour guide at the JFK assassination site at Dealey Plaza in Dallas, TX. He also worked at the now closed JFK Assassination Information Center and the Conspiracy Museum collectively for several years. He became interested in the subject of the JFK assassination just after it occurred, although he was only a child at the time, and over time he came to learn many of the details surrounding that tragic day. He has been quoted in many news stories, books and in documentaries. He devoted his life to assisting many thousands of people from all around the world during their visits to Dealey Plaza over the years. He was also the first person to place the white X on the pavement of Elm St, just below where he believed President Kennedy was when he was struck by the fatal bullet on 11-22-63. The maker is a reference point to visitors of the well preserved, highly visited JFK assassination site. Mr. Rice maintained that marker for many years and replaced it often. The tradition he started with the white X is now maintained by others who work in the area and is still a reference to hundreds of people every day. Originally from Indiana, he was a former police officer and a US Army veteran during the Vietnam War. He was survived by his brother, Jeff Rice, his sister, Katheryn Williams and his three children Ronald Rice JR, David Rice and Michael Rice, all of Indiana. A memorial service with military honors will be held for Mr. Rice at the Dallas/Fort Worth National Cemetery at 2:30pm on Tuesday November 18, 2014.
