

Rosemary Hively Briggs passed away May 4, 2016 at home surrounded by loved ones. Mrs. Briggs was born in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma to Mrs. Ovid Crichton Hively and Robert W. Hively. She attended Tulsa University and UCLA. She lived in Tulsa, Oklahoma until her marriage to the late Benjamin Rucker Briggs of Dallas, Texas. She was a member of the Dallas Woman’s Club and Dallas Garden Club. She was an active member of Saint Michael’s and All Angels Episcopal Church where she taught an adult woman’s bible class for many years and served as the President of the women. While president she oversaw the purchase of the Saint Michael’s Woman’s Exchange, a shop in the Highland Park Village dedicated to raise funds for childrens’ charities. She was on the Board of Directors and was Capital Campaign Chairman for Nexus Recovery Center where the administration building is named in her honor. Mrs. Briggs helped found the Women’s Auxiliary of Nexus and served on their Board and Executive committee. She was also a member of several other boards including the Dallas Crystal Charity Ball Committee, the Foundation for Callier Center for Communication Disorders and the Greater Dallas Council on Drug and Alcohol Abuse. She is survived by her two sons, Michael Briggs and his wife Jan Scharton Briggs and Robbie Briggs and his wife Nancy Imlay Briggs. Rosemary was very devoted to her grandchildren: Charlotte Crumm, Ryan and Elizabeth Briggs, Justin and Michelle Briggs, Olivia Briggs, Ben and Jenny Briggs, Chase and Megan Briggs, Anne Briggs, Avery and Derek Reed and Bonner Briggs. She loved her great grandchildren: Hannah and Rosemary Warren, Michael and Christopher Briggs, James Briggs, and Henry Redden, Micah, Zoe and Joel Briggs, and Jack and Nora Briggs. The family deeply thanks Mrs. Briggs’ devoted caregivers, Cheryl Fanning and Joycelyn Fields and the loving hospice nurses of VNA.
A memorial service will be held at St. Michael’s and All Angels Episcopal Church May 9, 2016 at 2 pm in the main sanctuary.
