Roy Lee Williams was born on May 13, 1948, in Cooper, Tx to the union of Tinnie Lee Woods and LeRoy Williams. He was the second child of Tinnie Lee Woods which preceded him in death, as well as his brother Lester Lee Anderson, and his sister Martha Sue Horton.
It was on Christmas Eve, in Hobbs, New Mexico, year of 1956, at the age of seven, Roy Lee was hit by a car. He would lie in a coma for six week and sustain severe injuries that ultimately left him with life-long disabilities. As a result one of his legs would be shorter than the other making him walk on his tippy toes. And because of that one of his nicknames became ‘Tippy’. Though these injuries were severe in nature they did not stop him from living his best life to the fullest extent.
Roy Lee was a borne competitor, and his chosen sport was body building. He would become one of the top rated body builders in the state of California and a local celebrity. In 1977, Roy appeared in the film Pumping Iron alongside Arnold Schwarzenegger. Roy sported 23 inch (sleeve busters) biceps; his skin was the color of honey and smooth as silk, and he had a smile that lit up any room that he entered.
‘Sweet Lee’ (nicknamed by Uncle Bobby Joe), was just that, sweet in nature, kind, loving and full of compassion. He would literally give you the socks off of his feet. Once Roy accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Saviour he became a witness and would often voice, “God has been good to me”! Roy spent his formative life in New Mexico, and moved to Long Beach, CA in 1966. He spent his later adulthood years in Dallas, TX, and resided at Park Village Nursing Home until his death.
Roy Lee leaves to cherish his memory his daughter TaNaya Gaines, two granddaughters; Alaijah Congress, and Diamond Gaines, great granddaughter Journey Blue, Uncle Bob Joe, family, friends, and cousins. And most of all his “favorite” Cousin Nina Jo, his ride or die! “I Got You Roy all the way to the end”! Wishing you God speed!
