Ruby Box

Ruby Lorene Dunn Box, 92, a longtime resident of Dallas, TX passed away on Friday, October 31, 2014 while residing at the Orchard Park Retirement Center in Murphy. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother and friend to all that knew and loved her.

Ruby was born in Freeport, TX on September 18, 1922 to Martha and J. A. Dunn, and grew up in Santa Anna, TX. She moved to Coleman, TX were she married Henry Kester Box in 1943. Ruby and H.K. moved their family to Dallas in 1951 when they joined the Preston Hollow United Methodist Church. After H. K.’s death in 1971 Ruby worked in the Christian Education department of her church for twenty years. A gifted seamstress and crochet artist she generously shared of her talent with others. Ruby also taught in the church arts and crafts program and was active in the lap robe club.

Survivors include her son, W. Gene Box, his wife Leslie of Dallas, TX; daughter Joyce Box Breen and her husband Harry of Murphy, TX; sisters Jo Ann McClellan and Faye Hunter of Abilene, TX and Sonja Adams of Carrollton, TX; her brother Dr. J. D. Dunn of Denton, TX; grandchildren Bret Wayne McNatt, Garrett Lee Breen, Casey Aaron Breen, Laura Lee Daigle, Melissa Gail Stromblad, William Sanders Box and Lawson Henry Box and nine great grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at Sparkman/Hillcrest Northwest Chapel, 7405 W. Northwest Hwy., Dallas, TX 75225.
