Runell Griffin Woodard

Runell Griffin Woodard of Rockwall, Texas died Tuesday, June 21, 2011 in Lake Point Hospital after a short fight against cancer. She was born in Gilmer Texas, on September 23, 1928 to Floy and Tessely O’Neal Griffin, She is survived by her elder sister Kathleen Buie and younger brother Neal Griffin.

At a young age of 17 she married John W. Woodard from Dallas Texas who soon enlisted in to the Navy and served for 3 years. They were happily married for 63 years and had 3 children; Kathy Sue Williams, Vicki Lynn Goux and Dickson Earl Woodard who gave her 7 wonderful grand children: Christine Eaton, Kindel Cotti, Joni Bain, Blake & Brian Pritchard and Jordan & Jamie Woodard; along with 9 Great Grand Children: Austin Miller, Colt & Alyssa Eaton, Brooklyn & Avery Cotti, Mason & Lily Bain and Brayden & Clayton Pritchard.

Runell devoted much of her time in her early years doing missionary work through her church and caring to those in need, she enjoyed her family gatherings, sewing and garage sales and always looked for a reason to help someone in need through her many priceless finds. Her family moved to Rockwall in Darr Estates early 1970’s and resided there for over 15 years; they were a very active family in Heath Baptist Church and through the Rockwall community as well. Jack and Runell chose to live out her days in Rockwall to be close to their family and friends.

A memorial luncheon will immediately follow the burial; this is available to all family, and friends, in honor of her memory from 1:00 to 7:00pm.

We all loved you and will miss you so much,

May your spirit and teachings live on through your legacy, and that we instill and preserve your memory just as you wanted, each and every day.
