

Ruth Selby Brown Martin passed away April 2, 2010. She was born in Choctaw, Okla on May 7, 1912, to Roll Selby and Edna Riley. She and her 5 brothers and sisters, Pauline (Jones), Kathryn (Caballero), Luther Selby, Ota Lee (Babcock) and Arthur Selby were raised in Ardmore, Okla. In 1929 Ruth attended Southwestern, Jr. College in Keene, Tex. She moved to Dallas and a married George Brown in 1940. George was a life long native of East Dallas who ran Country Club Garage on Abrams Rd. in the 1930s to late 40s and then Belmont Garage until the late 1960’s. Ruth had 3 children, Rolland Brown, who died in 1947 shortly after birth. Warren Brown, who married Deborah Hardwick, was a custom home builder, he died in 1991 at the age of 41. And Arthur Brown, who also was a custom home builder and is married to Patti Stratemeyer Brown, they live in Dallas near White Rock Lake. Her husband George Brown died at the age of 70 in 1981. In 1988 Ruth married Denty Martin and lived in Dallas on Meadowlake Rd. Ruth and Denty moved to Granbury, Texas in 1994. Denty died in 2004. Ruth was a charter member of the Dallas Seventh Day Adventist Church. Ruth was on the board of directors of the Otey Johnson Trust and helped establish the Lifestyle Centers of America in Oklahoma. Funeral service will be on April 6 at Noon at Grove Hill Funeral Chapel, 3920 Samuell Blvd. Interment: Grove Hill Memorial Park in Dallas, Texas.
