Ruth Frances Carroll Campbell Hobrecht

July 13, 1920 – November 29, 2012

Born in Paris, Texas to Letha Amelia and Roy Coleman Carroll. Her family moved to Dallas when she was three years of age and she was a proud Dallasite until her death at age 92.

She was graduated from North Dallas High School and took various classes in music at SMU.

She was well-known as a soprano soloist in Dallas during five decades, first at First Baptist Church of Dallas (Dr. George W. Truett, pastor) and then First Presbyterian Church of Dallas (Dr. John F. Anderson, pastor and Dr. Travis Shelton, choir director).

She was a member of First Presbyterian Church Chancel Choir and The Allman Class, Park City Club, Dallas Woman’s Club, and the Marianne Scruggs Garden Club of which she served as president. She sang for many civic groups, hundreds of weddings and funerals, and often with the Dallas Rotary Chorus.

Ruth Campbell Hobrecht was married to Raymond Campbell Jr. for 29 years until his death in 1971. She was married to Alfred Hobrecht for 29 years until his death in 2005.

Survived by children--Laura Campbell Bolding and her husband Bill W. Bolding, Raymond Campbell III and his wife Sarah Campbell. Grandchildren Dana & David Goza, Mika & Raymond Campbell IV, Tom Campbell, Ben Campbell; U.S. Army Sgt. First Class Jonathan Bolding and Mark Bolding; Kristi & Ben Reavis, Meg & Logan Reavis, Sara & Cullen Reavis. Great-grandchildren Mia & Titus Campbell, Nate, Alex, Will, and Anna Goza; Emily, Audrey, and Hailey Reavis. Sisters-in-law Mary Anne Barker and Dorothy Campbell. Nieces & Nephews, Suzanne Roberts, Libby & DoyleWillis, Bill & Pamela Barker & extended family, LaVera Johnson.

A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 5th in the Sudie George Chapel at First Presbyterian Church, Harwood and Young Streets.
