Sedalia "Tyler Rose" Samuels Starling was born on September 21, 1951, in Childress, Texas, to Charlie Mae Walker and Frank Samuels Sr. She was the second oldest of nine siblings, growing up in a household filled with love, laughter, and the kind of strength that only large families provide. From an early age, Sedalia showed a sense of resilience and determination that would guide her throughout her life.
Her early years were spent in Concord, Texas, before she moved to Orange, Texas, during her teenage years. It was there, in Orange, where Sedalia graduated from MB North High School and began to shape her future. It was also during these formative years that she met, Larry Starling Sr. Together, they would go on to create a family of their own.
Sedalia was blessed to have 3 children who held a special place in her heart. Throughout her life, Sedalia’s journey took her across the country. From Georgia to Colorado to California, she embraced each new chapter with grace, always making sure that her children and family were close to her, no matter where she was. But, her love for Texas was undeniable, and she eventually returned to be surrounded by her family once again in her home state.
Throughout her life’s journey, Sedalia remained a pillar of strength for those who knew her. Her warmth, kindness, and unshakeable faith were constants in her life. Whether she was caring for her children, supporting her siblings, or sharing a laugh with friends, Sedalia’s spirit and heart were always generous and full of love.
While her physical presence may no longer be with us, the love and memories she leaves behind will endure. Her legacy will live on through her children, her siblings, her friends, and all those whose lives she touched along the way.
