Sheila was a student of LifePoint's Friendship Class in Plano. Prior to Covid, we met weekly on Monday evenings for a Bible lesson, music, fellowship, and treats. Sheila's caregivers were so faithful in bringing her to class every week. Sheila would walk in with the biggest smile one could ever imagine, followed by big hugs for all the volunteers. She so enjoyed this class!

We offer our heartfelt condolences to her biological family, group home family, and to her church Friendship Group family. May Sheila's soul be at peace with our Heavenly Father. We pray for peace and comfort for all who loved her. Sheila's gentle soul will always be in our hearts.

I had the privilege of knowing Sheila way back when she moved in to the Dartmouth home. She had such a sweet personality but could be a little firecracker too. My thoughts and prayers to the family.

As a previous VOA nurse there are so many fun and amazing memories of Shelia it is hard for me to pick just one. Shelia always welcomed me with the best hugs and a big “hi momma”. On one of my last shifts before leaving VOA I was with Shelia at an appointment. Upon leaving the appointment Shelia noticed there was an elderly gentleman sleeping in the waiting room. She ran up to the man and yelled “hello daddy” waking him up. He woke up in such a fright that Shelia began laughing. That in turn caused the gentleman to begin laughing as well. We all had a big laugh about it. One of my other favorite memories is when she had to wear an orthotic boot in order for her foot to heal properly. It was so hard getting her to walk back to the car. She struggled with walking and the boot. When she finally began walking she looked up and me and smiled the biggest Shelia smile and yelled, “mama look, I’m doing it mama”. Shelia helped change my perspective on life. She helped me look at life with happiness and so much love. I am better person, and mother having known Shelia. She truly was one of the greats.

My heart has a true void that was occupied for the last 9 years by Sheila. The many hours we spent sitting on the floor until Sheila was ready to get up to the hugs and dancing we did were real blessings that I will treasure forever. Knowing that I will never get to hear you yell “Mama” when I walk in the room breaks my heart, Sheila. I am so sorry for the loss her family, her VOA family, and her housemates are experiencing. I pray that we all treasure the peace and comfort we will have forever in our sweet memories of Sheila.

The thing I remember most about Sheila is that she always brought such joy to every family get together that she blessed. She was so happy to see everyone and gave the best hugs! She was so loved by all of us and will be missed so much.
