Sheryl Porter

Sheryl Porter was born to Curtis and Nelda Cook on September 23, 1960 in Dallas, TX. She passed away peacefully on December 21, 2018 with her loving and devoted husband by her side. Sheryl married Kenneth Porter on April 18, 1980. They had three children Lacrista, Joshua, and Lucretia. Sheryl loved going to church and worshipping God at Cornerstone Baptist Church in Allen, TX. What she loved the most was being with her family. She loved being involved with her grandkids Damean, Zachoria, Caleb, Casey, Jacy, and Grace. She was so proud of each of them and you always heard her talking about them. She was a selfless, caring, loving, devoted, and Godly wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend. She always put others before herself and was always there for any of us at a moments notice. Even in these last few weeks all she was thinking about is her grandkids and having Christmas for them despite her not feeling well. Although we will miss her terribly especially at Christmas and the holidays this year, we take comfort in knowing that she is celebrating in Heaven and we will be reunited with her again one day. She leaves behind her husband of 38 years Kenneth Porter, two daughters and son-in-laws Lacrista Vaughn (Johnny), Lucretia Winders (TJ Sonntag), a son and daughter-in-law, Josh Porter (Melissa), six grandchildren, Damean and Zachoria Winders, Casey and Jacy Vaughn, Caleb and Grace Porter; a sister Gayle Dauer (Scott), and nephews Anderson and Peyton Dauer. She also leaves behind so many aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Bryan Cook.

A funeral service for Sheryl will be held Friday, December 28, 2018 at 10:00 AM at Cornerstone Baptist Church, 2242 W Lucas Road, Allen, TX 75002. A committal service will occur Friday, December 28, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Smyrna Cemetery, Winnsboro, TX 75494.
