Family,
 We would like for you to know that Shirley was a beautiful lady, inside and out.  After 30 years of knowing her she was ALWAYS the same pleasant person (with such a sweet voice).   She baby sat our grandchild when she actually was not keeping children at that time.  We will always be grateful and thankful to God for placing her in our lives.   

We will continue to pray for your strength and comfort.

The many fun times we shared with Shirley, Sam, Sandy Curtis, Doug and the family were always filled with love, laughter and something from the Kitchen. We shared our Childers graduations, and gatherings with the McDaniel’s  (Dale and Eduora). Where ever we were we capped off our gathering with Church (Curtis was playing drums). She Loved God and her faith and her memory will be everlasting. Nobody could fry Sam’s Catfish Nuggets like Shirley on a Friday night.
Her Legacy is etched into the memories of those who loved her.

To Sam and family may you be comforted by the WORD of God  and I  will pray for healing during this difficult time.   I will miss Shirley a beautiful woman of God.

Nana, you came into our lives at such a grim time.
We didn’t know you, but you were so warm and so kind.
We interviewed you because you were going to watch our only son, our heart.
In the end you looked at us and said, “so which day of next week you want me to start?”
I laughed cause I knew Big Earl would want more than one day to pray.
But to my surprise the skeptic looked at me, then at you and said “See you on Monday.”
You talked about the loves of your life Curtis, Cassandra and Doug!
But the light in your eyes got even brighter when you told me who the biggest love was,
That Sam, lit up your eyes like stars in the sky.
You had a 63-YEAR love like no other, and you didn’t even try to deny.
You spoke of him as your lover, your heart, and your best friend.
You spoke fondly of all the places like Germany, and all over the world you 2 had been.
And you came to me when I was pregnant with my little girl;
and said I would like to keep her too, just like Lil Earl.
Then said, “It would be an honor if I could be Sierra’s godmother.”
You didn’t stop there as you cared for my nephews, the Pastor’s kids, and so many others.
So thank you for all the wonderful talks, gestures, good food etc.
Sierra will cherish you and the Potts will too, FOREVER!

We Love you always Aunt Shirley. My condolences to the entire family.

Shirley and I were class mates and graduated together. She was always happy and smiling and always made you feel better if you were down. She had a very positive attitude about everything. Shirley will be missed greatly, the love she gave out will be missed the friendship, positive vibes and just her whole attitude.  She was a true friend, confidant and just all around good person. Her mom and dad were good people and church workers until they were called to glory and Shirley followed in their footsteps. God has taken His angel home for rest. Thank you God for allowing me the privilege of knowing and loving her.

Shirley Bell, as I called her, and I shared a close friendship that began in Spangdahlem, Germany in 1973 when our husbands were assigned there.  During Sam and Freddie’s four-year tours of duty, our families formed a close and lasting bond.   Shirley and I were inseparable.   She and I worked together, we traveled together, we laughed together in happy times and cried together in sad times.  We became “Best Friends Forever.”  When Sam’s tour ended and we parted ways, our personal friendship as well as our families’ friendship remained strongly in tact.   It was a bond that could not be broken regardless of time or miles.   Freddie, Kitty, and I will deeply miss you, dear friend.   However,  our precious memories of you will remain in our hearts forever.  We love you, Shirley Bell💐😘.
