Silve was born April 26, 1945, to Martha Ramirez in Lamesa, Texas. At a young age, his family moved to Hobbs, New Mexico where he grew up. In 1968, he moved to Dallas, Texas to seek a better life for his family. He started working as a framer with his uncles. He would then work as a security guard during the evening on the same jobsite that he was framing to make extra money. Always wanting to better himself, he learned the construction industry by watching others and applying those skills. This led him to start his own company as a general contractor, Silve Construction, building 7-Eleven stores, Chief Auto Parts, and multiple other project types throughout Dallas/Fort Worth. Many of his extended family members worked alongside of him and eventually grew their own companies that some still own today.
On December 28, 1985, he married Margarita Torrez. When the construction industry stalled in the mid-1980’s, he reinvented himself and started working with his brother, Steve Rubealcaba, Sr., in the trucking industry specializing in oversized loads. He went on to start his own oversized load company, Sil-Mar Trucking, Inc., with his wife, Margarita. He ran the company until he retired.
There wasn’t a stranger that Silve met. He had an infectious personality that would draw people to him. He could turn any frown upside down with his humor and quick wit. He was a mechanic at heart and loved classic cars and restoring them. At one time he was a member of the Arlington Area Street Rod Association and would showcase his cars at local and national car shows. He was a former usher at the Oaks Fellowship Church in Red Oak, Texas, where he would find great joy in helping to find seating for those attending services.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Martha Ramirez Martinez and stepfather Simon D. Martinez, Sr.; brother, Steve R. Rubealcaba, Sr.; stepbrother, Simon D. Martinez, Jr.; and stepdaughter, Sylvia Torrez.
Silve is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Margarita Rubealcaba; sister Dora Rodriguez, stepsisters Suzie Ramos and Adele Garcia, sons, Silve Jr. and wife Norma of Garland, Harvey and wife Cathy of Irving, Scott and partner Inez Espino of Dallas, daughter Nancy Garza and fiancé Troy Guidash of Keller, stepdaughter Jessie Aguilar of Grand Prairie, stepson Joe Torrez of Red Oak, foster daughter Madelyn Lazo of Red Oak, 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren and fur baby Mikey.
