Sofia Narvaiz Peña was born in Fentress, Texas on July 16, 1939 to Rodolfo and Juanita Narvaiz. She was raised in San Antonio, Texas and eventually met her husband, Jose Luis Peña Sr., through her brother Rudy Narvaiz Jr. They fell in love, were married on October 29, 1967, and shared 40 wonderful years together. Jose and Sofia lived in San Antonio during the early years of their marriage, and they eventually moved to Dallas, Texas where they spent the remainder of their lives together. Sofia and her husband had four children together, and she lived to see a good number of great-grandchildren. She left this earth for her heavenly home on October 1, 2020.
Sofia was a longtime parishioner of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Dallas. She was a woman of faith and a prayer warrior with a heart for serving others. She spent many years working as a babysitter then as a preschool teacher. Sofia retired from DeSoto Private School, but she did not retire from taking care of children as she was especially devoted to helping with the care of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Sofia showed unconditional love to her family and friends, and cherished every conversation and outing with them. When she was younger her two main hobbies were sewing and cake decoration. Her beautiful cakes and the process it took to make them inspired others in the family to learn the art of cake decorating as well. Later in life her hobbies leaned more toward scrapbooking and card making which allowed her the opportunity to spend time with others, make something, and share it with others.
Sofia is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Luis Peña Sr.; her parents, Rodolfo and Juanita Narvaiz; and her grandchild, Zavier Gomez. She leaves behind several beloved family members and friends, many of whom we were not able to list below.
