Alice “Sue” Kidwell, of Dallas, Texas, passed away peacefully on June 16, 2025, surrounded by love and cherished memories. She was 77.
Born and raised in Dallas, Sue lived a full and vibrant life, rooted in compassion, curiosity, and kindness. She was a proud graduate of Hillcrest High School and Southern Methodist University, where she earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees and played clarinet in her high school and college bands — a passion that reflected her lifelong love of music and creativity.
Sue devoted much of her career to Delta Airlines, working in the international department where her adventurous spirit flourished. Her career allowed her to see the world, and she embraced every opportunity to learn from new cultures and experiences. Whether walking the streets of Paris or exploring markets in Tokyo, she brought her signature warmth and beautiful smile wherever she went.
Beyond her professional life, Sue was known for her deep love of animals — especially cats. She not only raised but fostered countless feline companions over the years, offering each one a home filled with love and care. Her gentle nature extended to people as well. Sue was the kind of woman who remembered birthdays, sent thoughtful notes, and always had a positive outlook.
Also a skilled and spirited card player, Sue delighted in games with friends and family, where laughter and stories were as important as the hands played.
She enjoyed reading, was a member of several local book review clubs and devoted years to serving at the polls and as an officer of the Public Affairs Luncheon Club.
Sue was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Rollo E. and Alice Thatcher Kidwell; her sister, Molly Kidwell and a dear cousin, Ellen L. White. Though she leaves behind no immediate family, she is mourned and celebrated by a wide circle of friends, former colleagues, extended family and the many people — and animals — whose lives she touched.
Her life was a testament to quiet strength, open-hearted generosity, and an enduring sense of wonder about the world. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered. The family is grateful for the wonderful care given by the staff of The Tradition at Lovers Lane and Three Oaks Hospice as well as the devotion of several dear friends over these last few years.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a local animal shelter or rescue organization in Sue’s memory. A graveside service will be held on June 20, 2025 at 10:30am in Sparkman-Hillcrest Memorial Park.
