Terrance Owen Riley was born in Wichita, Kansas on May 21, 1939. His Parents, Kenneth and Marie Riley predeceased him and will rest eternally with Terry at Calvary Hill in Dallas. Terry graduated from North Dallas High School and then for a time he attended the old Denton College.
Terry found his way to the Saint Paul Hospital where his mother and others in his family began lives and careers. It was at Saint Paul where he met Wanda McLin. A courtship began and the lifelong joining of and the creation of families also began.
Wanda Mclin was married to Terry Owen Riley in 1964 and their son Kevin was born in February of 1965. As the story goes, Wanda worked her full shift at the hospital on the day Kevin was born and Terry was working the same halls of the hospital that day. The family remained in Dallas until a move took them to Houston in 1969. As sometimes happens, the marriage between them ended but the relationship of parents and friends never did. Over the course of the next fifty years, Dad moved in and out of our lives until he finally settled back into Dallas in the 80’s. His wandering ways were over and he remained in Dallas until his death. Most of his business career in Dallas centered around his X-Ray school and then his love of Elvis impersonators and the Dallas Cowboys. His brothers and sisters remained close to him as for many years they shared all the ongoing birthdays, weddings, vacations, graduations and holidays together. As they aged, Sunday breakfast together became the Riley family ritual that kept all of them together as a family.
Terry is survived by his son and daughter in law, Kevin and Melissa Riley of Houston. His brother Michael and sisters Patricia, Eileen and Theresa. His brother in law Jan Christopherson. His many nieces and nephews that called him Uncle Terry. Kellie and Joanna, Kenneth, Amie, Rachael, Barbara, Brett, Casey, Kelly, Ricky and Scottie.
His circle of friends was wide and numerous and for those that were near daily visitors to Dad, Maggie and Anton his family is grateful beyond measure for all that you helped with during the last few months that Dad was with us.
In lieu of flowers, donations are encouraged to be made in Wanda Riley’s name to The Texas Pythian Home.
