Terry was born in Bossier City, Louisiana, at Barksdale AFB to George and Janet Smith. Shortly after, the family left the service and moved to Hagarstown, Maryland, where Terry spent her childhood. She graduated high school in Hagarstown, and then completed a 4 year degree at Western Maryland University with honors in science. Terry then moved to Washington DC where she took a job as a drug representative. She gradually moved up in that company and others as each was bought out, ending up at General Electric. She was eventually transferred by GE to Dallas, where she finished her career. Her final position with GE was as a Director Medical Sales for large accounts, where she negotiated huge contracts with hospital conglomerates for contrast media and other medical supplies.
Those close to Terry remember her as a fun-loving person who lit up the room when she walked in. Her smile was infectious. She loved to travel and went to every continent. She also loved to work in her garden, play golf, play bridge, and paint. She was happiest being outside, and would often have several landscaping projects going at once. In the last several years, she also started going to Camp Wyandot in Ohio, where she joined friends to do projects including building additions and remodeling cabins. Terry suffered for many years with intermittent depression made worse by seasonal depression. The last year with Covid 19 was extremely hard for her and she tried for a long time to get through it.
Terry is survived by her life partner, Sandy Clapp, her mother, Janet Smith, her brother, George Smith, II, her sister Kimberly (Greg) Klug, her niece Jan (spouse Eric) Deardorff, her nephews Dan (spouse Ashley) and Jason Klug, and numerous great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, George Smith.
