

Tie, his brother Dick and sister Doris, were raised on Hanover Street and attended University Park Grade School where Tie met many of his life long friends. He was a proud member of Troop 70 Boy Scouts where he earned the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Highland Park High School and Texas A&M University with a degree in Architecture. After serving as a First Lieutenant with the Combat Engineers in Korea, Tie returned to Dallas and married Yvonne Van Duzen who he first met as a teenager at the Webers’ Root Beer Stand on Oak Lawn. He practiced Architecture in Dallas with his business partner, J. Murray Smith, for over forty years. Tie was a Charter Member and Life Deacon at Park Cities Baptist Church. He considered the most rewarding times in his life the moments he spent with his family and friends which included his high school pals, members of the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets and the Herbert Howard Bible Class. Each one of these friends knows who they are.
Tie is survived by his wife Yvonne; his son Stephen and his wife Joan, granddaughters Katherine and Caroline Davis; his daughter Madeleine and her husband Douglas, grandsons Nathaniel and Tie Smith. He is also survived by his brother Noah Richard (Dick) Davis and his wife Sandra; sister Doris Sosnowski and her husband Walt; along with numerous nephews and nieces.
Services will be held at Park Cities Baptist Church’s Ellis Chapel at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 13th. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: N. S. (Tie) & G. Merle Davis Trust at Buckner’s Home or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Department at UT Southwestern.
