

Tommye Irene Parnell passed away on Monday, December 4, 2017, at the age of 89. She was born in Clarksville, Texas on January 25, 1928. In 1949 she married Dr. Bill Parnell and together they shared the pleasures and challenges of raising 6 children while Bill’s medical practice prospered. They traveled extensively throughout the United States and Europe for medical conventions and pleasure. Tommye enjoyed sharing these times with her husband. She was a devoted wife, beloved mother, doting grandmother and a friend to all who met her. Tommye and Bill restored their beautiful Victorian home in Winnsboro, Texas and as with all their endeavors this was a true partnership. Bill refinished much of the woodwork in the house while Tommye, through years of collecting antique furnishings, completed the look of an elegant turn of the century home that all admired. She was preceded in death by her parents Thomas and Dovie Mathis, her four sisters – Audrey, Eula May, Roberta, Bess and her husband Bill, the love of her life for over 65 years. She is loved and will be greatly missed by her children: Annette Keedy (John), David Parnell, Cynthia Parnell, Charles Parnell (Beth), James Parnell (Ingrid) and Pamela Parnell (Kevin). She is also survived by seven grandchildren: Stephen Keedy (Laura), Claire Parnell, Elliot Parnell, Matthew Shipes (Christelle), William Shipes, Austin Parnell, Mackenzie Parnell and one great-grandchild – Ellie Keedy. A funeral service will be held at 4pm, Sunday, December 10, 2017, at Sparkman/Hillcrest, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas Texas 75225. Burial will be at 12pm, Monday, December 11, 2017 in Detroit Cemetery, Detroit, Texas.
