Valerie Larkin Karns, of Galveston, TX, passed away peacefully on July 22nd in Dallas, TX. She will always be remembered as a vibrant, loving, and truly one-of-a-kind mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She was born on May 2, 1966, in Houston, TX to James & Shirley Larkin. She studied Interior Design at SFA and UNT before moving to Dallas, TX. Her life with her family and a radiant circle of friends was filled with adventure, laughter, and costume-filled celebrations – always bursting with love and imagination. She had a magnetic way of seeing magic where others saw the mundane. A born artist with an eye for detail, Valerie could transform a simple space – or a moment – into something unforgettable. She lived in full color, unapologetically herself, and her fearless spirit lit up every room.
Valerie is survived by her two beloved children, Cannon and Hailey Karns; her mother, Shirley Larkin; her brothers, Greg and Darin Larkin. She was preceded in death by her father, James Larkin. The Funeral Service will be held at 10 am on Friday, August 1st at Highland Park United Methodist Church.
