Vera Opal Odle passed away 05-29-2015 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer’s. She was a long time resident of Grand Prairie, TX and attended Fairview Baptist and Indian Hills Baptist Church. She is survived by daughters, Deborah Remont and husband David, and Rebecca Gumpert and adopted daughter Arlene White. She was an amazing Nana to Granddaughters, Cynthia Richey and husband Shane, Kathryn Sober, Kari Swan and husband Zachary; and Grandsons, Chris Brock and Curtis Gumpert. She was known as “GiGi” to her 8 great-grandchildren; Brittany, Brian, Alexandra, Adam, Jackson, William, Sam and Drew. She also had many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Lee Odle, her parents, all of her sisters and her brother, as well as her son-in-law Donald Gumpert and several nieces and nephews. She was a long time employee of Howard Johnson’s Restaurant, Marriott, and Holy Trinity Seminary, not retiring until she was 84. At age 87 Alzheimer’s finally won its battle and took most of her memory. She will always be remembered as a sweet, kind, generous woman and will forever be known as the “Cookie Lady”. She was loved by everyone she met and will forever be missed until we meet again.
