Veta Pearl Morgan Wilburn

Veta Pearl Morgan Wilburn, age 86 of Garland, went to be with the Lord on August 19, 2015 after her battle with breast cancer. She was born on August 3, 1929 in Bailey, Texas, the daughter of John McCullough and Pearl Victory. Veta married Billie Joe Morgan and was later married to Joe John Wilburn.

Veta was a kind hearted woman who enjoyed many things throughout her life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mesquite where she enjoyed trips and adventures with her Sunday School Class. Veta worked as an office manager for Armstrong Carpet and retired after over 30 years of service. In her spare time, Veta enjoyed traveling and doll collecting, but the greatest joy in her life was her family and the time she got to spend with them. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society. Veta Pearl, as she was affectionately called by her family and friends, will be greatly missed.

Veta is survived by her daughter Cynthia Harris; step-son Pat Wilburn and wife JoAnn, step-daughters Judy Elliott and husband Travis and Joan Stansbury; granddaughter Tammy Mathewes and husband Josh, step-grandchildren Christy Wilburn, Cindy Horn and husband Steve, Caprice Terry and husband Brian, Jody Kreska and husband Jeff and Mark Stansbury; 10 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Veta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe John Wilburn, daughter Phyllis Morgan, five brothers, four sisters and step-grandson Heath Elliott.

The family will receive friends on Friday, August 21, 2015 from 6-8 PM at Grove Hill Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM on Saturday at the funeral home with Brother Scott Gray officiating. Interment will follow at Grove Hill Memorial Park.
