Virginia was born on June 4, 1932, to John Paul and Hattie Johnson in Lyerly, Georgia. After she graduated from Lyerly High School, she moved to Atlanta and started work with Metropolitan Life Insurance Company. She worked for MetLife for 42 years in Atlanta and Dallas. While still in Georgia, she went on a blind date with George Dillard. It went so well that they married three months later in November 1958. They moved to Dallas for George’s work in 1959. They were married for 18 years and had two children before George passed in 1977.
Virginia enjoyed counted cross stitch, jigsaw and word puzzles. After her retirement in 1994, her favorite hobby was her grandchildren. She attended almost every game and performance of her six grandchildren over the years and enjoyed spending time with each of them. She also was an office volunteer at White Rock United Methodist Church, where she was a faithful member.
