Walter Benson Dupree passed away peacefully on the Morning of November 11, 2021. He was born in Dallas Texas on March 20, 1936 to Walter and Jane Dupree. As a young boy Ben’s Dad had a job that kept their family moving from city to city before finally settling again in Dallas Texas in the early 1950s where Ben would continue his schooling at Sunset High School and Graduate in 1954. Soon after he would meet his soul mate Gayla Kirsten Harper in 1955 and finally tie that knot on February 9, 1957. A knot that would never be broken. Duncanville, Texas would eventually become their life long home in 1961 where they would raise their 3 sons and daughter. For many years Ben worked in the Printing industry but was the happiest working in the yard, transplanting trees and keeping his yard manicured. He always had a project going at the house. He was the ultimate maintenance man, mechanic and all around handy man. He was THE do-it-yourselfer. Of course he had 2 employees, Doyal and Dale.
Ben’s greatest attribute will always be his character and unending love for his Gayla. They were the perfect match. God definitely joined the right 2 people together.
Ben is survived by his sons and their wives Doyal and Mary Dupree of Cedar Hill, Dale and Sandra Dupree of Arlington, Scott and Carla Dupree of Atlanta, TX and daughter Dena Pack of Midlothian. Also, brothers Monty Dupree and his wife Glenda of The Woodlands, and Sean Brooks of Dallas, and sister-in-law Cecelia Jones of Arlington.
Ben was "Granddaddy" to Jason, Kristin, Trisha, Jordan, Bryan, Jake, Shance, Zachary, Treyce, and Davis, and to his great-grandchilden Briley, Brooklyn, Baylor, Cody, Gage, Brock and Tripp. Along with his parents and Gayla’s parents, Ben will join in heaven his wife and soul mate of 61 years Gayla Kirsten Harper, his sister, Susan Fetherlin, brother-in-laws Pat Conway and John Jones and sister-in-law Karen Conway. To his nieces and nephews - Patrice, Greg, Laura, John, Jeffrey Boyce, Andrea, Tab, Stacey and Courtney, Ben loved each of you like you were his own. Thanks for bringing so much joy to his life. To his favorite cousin Robert Dupree and friend Billie Anderson, Dad spoke fondly of you often.
